Anthony Aguilar is the owner and lead engineer of Set The Tone Records. He began his musical journey in a public high school academy in Las Vegas, studying classical guitar before branching out to jazz, fusion, and progressive music. The College of Southern Nevada’s recording studio became his second home as he got his degree and recorded some of his band’s earliest songs in and out of class. He cut his teeth in the audio industry working live sound in the casinos and showrooms Vegas had to offer.
After relocating to Philadelphia, Anthony continued working in live sound before focusing fully on recording, mixing, and mastering. With a penchant for mathrock, prog, and all things technical, he opened Set The Tone Records as both a studio and a platform for artists pushing themselves creatively. He has worked with bands like Save Us From The Archon, Gods., Fake Pollocks, Cloutchaser, and Floral, and collaborates regularly with local studios like Cart Studios, Hidden Fortress, and Mellow Sound Studios.
In addition to engineering, Anthony spearheads Rese, a solo project turned fully remote band and outlet for his twinkly and technical endeavors. He also offers label services, representing some of his favorite bands like BOTH HOUSES and Voided Shape, and designs and coordinates artwork, vinyl, and merch production. Set The Tone Records is rooted in detailed, dedicated work with an ongoing commitment to helping independent artists build something lasting.
